City Vision Church in south Ulaanbaatar which was planted in February 2018. Now the average Sunday attendance is between 50 to 80 adults as well as 30 children. They gather there together to worship and honor God. In the last eight years we have shared the Good News with over 300 people. Twenty of them now attend church on Sunday and gather together for church events during the week. These people have chosen to believe in Jesus and to be baptized. Right now, CVC is completely self-sufficient financially and in leadership We continue to thank God for His great vision to save the lost through using this thriving church. The church leadership is dependent on God’s guidance and His leading them
EVERY NATION CHURCH - Khovd, Far Western Mongolia
Khovd is the capital city of Khovd Province and a 1,000 mile drive from Ulaanbaatar. Buddhism, Shamanism and Islam are prevalent in this area of over 88,000 population with ten small tribes. Seventeen churches have been planted province-wise since 1993. In Khovd city itself there are eight churches including our church plant, Every Nation Church. The rest of the churches are located in smaller towns.
We have been working together from 2021 with our young church planters, Mujy and Davaa, in Khovd. They moved to Khovd in order to start this church. I continually thank God for this young couple because they said “Yes” to the Lord and they obediently moved to distant Khovd in order to establish ENC just as Father Abraham left Ur for Canaan. We have supported this young couple and the new church there until 2025. Mujy and Davaa have grown much spiritually and learned about the vision, mission and church leadership though those years. Now this church is going forward on its own and is stable and doing well.
Zavkhan Province is primarily characterized by its traditional, deeply rooted nomadic culture, which is heavily influenced by Tibetan Buddhism and Shamanism. After the end of the Communist era in 1990, Christianity (especially Protestantism) spread to rural provinces like Zavkhan. Evangelical movements, often supported by international missionaries (including Korea), were active in rural Mongolia and introduced Christianity to nomadic communities. However, this area is also noted for strong adherence to traditional beliefs with many people practicing a mixture of Shamanism and Buddhism. At times Christianity has been met with some caution or even resistance, as Buddhism is seen by many as central to this province’s national identity. Some Christian organizations have been able to provide Bibles, educational and financial support but compared to other Mongolian provinces, Zavkhan has fewer Christians or churches. But happily the situation is starting to change. We are encouraging other Mongolian churches to go and plant new churches in this isolated area. And we have prayed for a new church plant of our own for the past three years. God is proving faithful and we are now expecting to start a new church plant here in this year of 2026.
Jesus said, “You will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 5:8
Our first church plant was in Ulaanbaatar and then we reached out to rural areas for our other church plants. We never came back during this time to plant another new church in Mongolia’s Capital city. (Mongolia’s population is 3.5 million people and half of the population live in UB.) God’s ways are different than our ways…and so after surrendering pastoral leadership of City Vision Church to another, God showed Sheika that He wanted another church to be established in UB as well. We are praying for a new church plant to start here at the end of 2026.
